- The Tree of Woe, to which Conan gets nailed to by Thulsa Doom's henchman, was actually a hollow prop consisting of a plaster mold formed over a wood and steel skeleton, with branches composed of wire and styrofoam. The inside of the tree housed a small space, just enough room for some electrical equipment and an operator for this scene's only mechanical vulture. (The other vultures were real, bound to the tree limbs to prevent them from flying away.) Although he looked uncomfortable being crucified to the tree, Schwarzenegger was actually quite relaxed. The Austrian actor sat comfortably on a bicycle seat concealed underneath his loincloth. (trivia taken from Akim Bischoff's "The Gift of Fury")
